MACfest International - Mpumalanga Arts & Culture Festival[2008]
The Mpumalanga Arts and Culture Festival (MACfest) is back! It takes place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November at the eMalahleni Stadium, the erstwhile @lantic Stadium, in eMalahleni (formerly Witbank).

With a programme split between youth and adult contemporary music, festival goers can look forward to top quality music with a line-up that features acclaimed local, African and international acts. In addition to sizzling music, a variety of arts and crafts that reflect the richness of the province will be on sale in the crafters’ village. Vendors in the food court will also offer a range of mouth-watering foods and drinks to still the hunger pangs and to quench the thirst. Exhausted music enthusiasts will be able to relax in the food and beverage village.

Sponsored by the Mpumalanga provincial government, MACfest was launched in 2006 and replaced the development initiative, Tjhakalani KuSephuka Tidzindzi, whose aim was to provide a platform for up-and-coming artists in the province. Now an integral part of a strategy to brand the province as a preferred cultural and heritage tourism destination, MACfest aims to celebrate the artistic and cultural diversity, excellence of the province, and to create opportunities for socio-economic development.

In the week leading up to the festival, training workshops will be held for the province’s musicians and music teachers, as well as various parties associated with the event. A festival website will go live soon.
