The Unity Band SA

The Unity Band is comprised of Thandeka Dladla, Steve De Souza, Lilavan Gangen, Dylan Fine, Lonwabo Mafani, Ofenste Moshoetsi, Marco Maritz and Lumanyano Mzi. A young vibrant collective formed at the UCT South African College of Music. The band plays an array of jazz with influences of African Jazz, Fusion, Pop, Hip Hop, Modern jazz and Contemporary jazz – playing original music and as well as paying homage to some of the greats in the music industry.

The Unity Band has played at some of Cape Town’s great venues such as The Crypt Jazz Club, KwaSec, The Great Wizoo, UCT College of Music, Harrington’s Cocktail Bar, the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre. The band has played with the Legendary McCoy Mrubata at his performance at Jazz In The Native Yards, as well as at other well-established events such Artscape Band Stand Festival, Jazzathon Festival, and The Silo Jazz Series.

The band has just finished recording a debut Album which will be launching later this year and has also been featured on McCoy Mrubata’s upcoming album “Brasskaap Vol 4 and Strings Attached”
